Patriot One Secures Contract for Correctional Service Canada from Innovative Solutions Canada

Program to fund deployment and evaluation of PATSCAN Platform, including its video fight detection module

TORONTO, ON (March 9, 2020) – Patriot One Technologies Inc. (TSX: PAT) (OTCQX: PTOTF) (FRANKFURT: 0PL) (“Patriot One” or the “Company”), is pleased to announce it has been awarded a contract for the PATSCAN Multi-Sensor Covert Threat Detection Platform (the “PATSCAN Platform”) by Innovation Solutions Canada (ISC) for Correctional Service Canada (CSC). The contract will include the purchase, deployment and evaluation of the PATSCAN Platform, including the video fight and disturbance detection module. Deployment of the PATSCAN Platform will begin with Correctional Service Canada (CSC) in March 2020 at an undisclosed location.

The contract from Innovative Solution Canada (ISC), was awarded to Patriot One for its PATSCAN Platform, with specific interest around the Video Object Recognition Software (VRS) solution for the detection of visible make-shift knives, cellphones, as well as disturbances and fights, all of which have been issues with correction facilities and their management teams. The Platform was evaluated and pre-qualified under the ISC's Testing Stream, formerly named the Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP). The Testing Stream helps connect Canadian innovators with federal government departments that are willing to test their innovation and provide innovators with valuable testing feedback.

“We've been working with Innovative Solutions Canada Program, formerly BCIP, on this project, prior to being acquired by Patriot One in December 2018,” shared Dr. James Stewart, SVP Video Analytics at Patriot One. “We are excited to be part of the program to demonstrate our capabilities to not only detect concealed and visible threat objects with our PATSCAN Platform, but also help correctional facility management and guards quickly detect fights and disturbances that at times breakout between inmates.”

Patriot One's business development and engineering teams have begun work with teams at ISC and Correctional Service Canada (CSC) on the production of the PATSCAN Platform, which will be delivered for installation and deployment at an undisclosed facility beginning March 2020. Following onsite testing and evaluation, Patriot One, and CSC will discuss the possibility of expanding the Platform deployment across Canada.

Naval and army monuments installed at DND HQ but date for CF-18 installation unknown

David Pugliese National Defence has installed the first pieces of equipment as monuments at the new headquarters on Carling Avenue in Ottawa. A Leopard C2 tank and the bow of the former destroyer HMCS Iroquois (see below) were installed in late March as part of the monuments project costing more than $1 million. The Royal Canadian Air Force will provide a CF-18 fighter jet for display at the headquarters. “The installation date of the CF-18 is still being determined,” Canadian Forces spokesman Maj. Scott Spurr noted in an email. Each service was allowed to select its monument as representative of its branch. The original cost of the monuments project was $400,000 but that increased as more equipment displays were added. In addition, a second monument grouping consisting of a Light Armoured Vehicle-3, a Sea King helicopter and a historical naval piece, which has yet to be determined, will be installed. Construction is expected to start on the initiative by the spring of 2021. A third monument, a First World War Nieuport aircraft, will be displayed from the ceiling over the lobby of one of the main buildings at the defence headquarters. An artillery gun, selected by the Canadian Army, will also be on display along with a Standard Missile 2 from the Royal Canadian Navy. The gun will symbolize involvement in the first Boer war 120 years ago while the missile will demonstrate technology advancements since then, according to the DND and Canadian Forces. The installation of the monuments is part of the Department of National Defence's “branding strategy” for the Carling Avenue headquarters. “The National Defence Headquarters will be a physical expression of the Defence Team; a representation of Canada's military history and the future strength of Canada's Defence Team establishment,” noted a branding document obtained by this newspaper through the Access to Information law. In 2015, the plan was to have the monuments only consist of a Leopard tank, a CF-5 fighter jet and a then unknown navy monument. The criteria was that “the monuments characterize offensive and defensive weapons capability,” according to the documents. The original budget was $400,000 but that amount has been increased as additional equipment was selected for display. The CF-5 jet was dumped in exchange for a more modern CF-18, which will be installed on a concrete pedestal. Previously the location was referred to as the “Carling Campus” but now that has been officially changed to NDHQ Carling. The branding strategy noted that the selected name is “a brand that is generic in nature but inclusive of our heritage and traditions, representing and respecting the great diversity of our work forces and its branches of service.” The federal government spent $800 million on acquiring and outfitting the former Nortel complex for the DND's needs. It has argued that it will see substantial savings from consolidating many of the department's employees into one site. The defence campus consists of about 28 hectares once owned by Nortel and 120 hectares leased from the National Capital Commission. The DND will also continue to operate its downtown Ottawa headquarters at 101 Colonel By as well as some other office locations in Ottawa and Gatineau https://www.thechronicleherald.ca/news/canada/naval-and-army-monuments-installed-at-dnd-hq-but-date-for-cf-18-installation-unknown-500245/

Eurosatory: This navigation system by Safran doesn’t need GPS

PARIS ― Safran Electronics & Defense unveiled June 12 at the Eurosatory trade show a range of military inertial navigation systems, dubbed Geonyx, aimed at equipping armored vehicles, target acquisition systems and artillery. The Geonyx INS range is a navigation tool designed to allow operators to find their position and aim weapons, a Safran ED executive told journalists. The system is intended to be highly reliable and independent of GPS, which can be jammed. Safran ED presented its Geonyx system to the Direction Générale de l'Armement procurement office and the French Army's Stat equipment assessment department on May 30. Geonyx could be fitted as a replacement of the Safran Sigma 30, which is fitted on the Nexter Caesar 155mm artillery. The resonance technology in the new INS range is “extremely disruptive,” the executive said. The Geonyx is smaller, highly reliable and at “a much lower price” than the Sigma 30, he added, however no price details were available. The three Geonyx models ― SP, HP and XP ― offer a rising level of performance, reflecting a range of operational requirements for an army. The systems are intended to be highly robust to withstand shock from artillery fire. An operational life of 10-15 years is expected, the executive said. Geonyx draws on technology developed on its Crystal gyroscope, an advanced hemispherical resonator gyroscope. The resonance technology will be applied to equipment for space, air, land and sea, both civil and military, Safran ED said in a statement. Northrop Grumman has developed its HRG system, which can be deployed in space. https://www.defensenews.com/digital-show-dailies/eurosatory/2018/06/08/eurosatory-this-navigation-system-by-safran-doesnt-need-gps/
