  Les critères européens de l'ESG mettent la pression sur les entreprises européennes de défense

  Les entreprises européennes du secteur de la défense font face à des difficultés venues des investisseurs mettant en avant leur « responsabilité sociale ». Ces derniers exigent notamment de ces entreprises une plus grande transparence dans la fabrication et la vente d'armes, dans le cadre de la montée en puissance des critères ESG (environnemental, social et de gouvernance). L'ASD (l'association pour "Aeronautics, Space, Defence and Security Industries" en Europe) a écrit à la Commission européenne, soulignant les contradictions entre la volonté de l'UE de renforcer ses capacités en matière de défense et les projets de propositions sur les critères ESG. Déjà, certaines banques et investisseurs coupent les liens avec l'industrie, a déclaré Alessandro Profumo, président de l'ASD et directeur général du groupe de défense italien Leonardo. Plusieurs grandes entreprises de défense européennes, dont le français Thales et le britannique BAE Systems, ont intensifié leurs efforts pour expliquer ce qu'elles font et souligner leurs contributions aux économies et à la sécurité nationale. D'autres cadres européens avertissent qu'un écart d'évaluation est en train de se creuser avec les États-Unis, où les industries de défense sont plus largement acceptées.   NATO Partners Collaborate to Develop Next Generation of Medium Multi-Role Helicopters

  France, Germany, Greece, Italy and the United Kingdom announced the launch of a multinational project on Next-Generation Rotorcraft Capabilities on 19 November 2020. The project is dedicated to the modernization of existing rotorcraft fleets and is one of NATO's High Visibility Projects (HVP). The project highlights NATO Allies' commitment to maintain a technological edge and to pursue multinational cooperation whenever possible. It aligns with Europe's desire to reduce dependency on U.S. defence equipment. A significant number of medium multi role helicopter capabilities currently operated by Allies will reach the end of their life cycle in the 2035 – 2040 period and beyond, with the subsequent need for replacements. The Next Generation Rotorcraft project aims to develop a solution for these upcoming requirements, leveraging a broad range of recent advances in technology, production methods, as well as operational concepts. Over the coming years, experts from all five nations will cover an exhaustive programme of work, starting with defining a robust Statement of Requirements and a multi-phase cooperation plan. The Defence Ministers of the five Allies signed a Letter of Intent to develop an entirely new helicopter capability.   Indonesian Air Force places order for eight additional H225Ms

  The Indonesian Air Force has ordered eight additional twin-engine multirole H225M helicopters as part of the country's fleet-strengthening initiative for a combat search and rescue-capable fleet. Indonesia, Under the agreement between the Indonesian Ministry of Defence and PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero) (PTDI), the 11-ton combat-proven helicopters will be delivered to the air force upon reassembly and completion of the mission equipment outfitting and customisation by PTDI at its facility in Bandung, Indonesia. These additional helicopters will join the air force's existing fleet of six H225Ms to perform similar combat search and rescue missions. “We welcome Indonesia's selection of our H225M helicopters for their expanding fleet. The H225M is a combat-proven helicopter that is well regarded by military customers worldwide, and Indonesia's additional order speaks strongly of their confidence in Airbus' helicopters,” said Ben Bridge, Executive Vice President, Global Business of Airbus Helicopters. “Indonesia continues to play a vital role in Airbus Helicopters' global industrial footprint. With a trusted partner in PTDI, we stand ready to support the availability of Indonesia's fleet.” Airbus Helicopters and Indonesia have an enduring relationship of over 40 years dating back to 1976 when PTDI first obtained a licence to produce the NBO-105 helicopter. Specifically on the H225, PTDI became a key supplier of the helicopter's rear fuselage and main airframe in 2008, with full production in place in Indonesia by 2011. The two companies expanded the industrial co-operation in 2017, to include support and services dedicated for the Indonesian military fleet of helicopters. The H225M is currently in service across the globe with 88 helicopters delivered to-date. It recently surpassed the 100,000 flight hour milestone, following its first delivery to the French Air Force in 2006. Since then the H225M has proven its reliability and durability in multiple combat environments and crisis areas. A member of the multi-role Super Puma family of helicopters, this military variant is currently operational in France, Brazil, Mexico, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, and has recently been ordered by Hungary, Kuwait and Singapore.
