La France a enregistré 4,9 milliards d'euros de commandes d'armement en 2020

En 2020, la France a enregistré 4,9 milliards d'euros de commandes d'armement en 2020, contre 8,3 milliards un an plus tôt, selon un rapport du ministère français des Armées remis mardi au Parlement, soit un recul de près de 41%, un phénomène lié aux effets de la crise sanitaire. Les récents succès du Rafale « sont cependant de bon augure pour l'année en cours », anticipent Les Echos. Cette baisse « ne traduit pas une tendance de fond », assure en effet le ministère, qui rappelle de récentes signatures d'importants contrats de vente de Rafale, à l'Egypte (30 exemplaires pour près de 4 milliards d'euros), à la Grèce (18 avions, dont 12 d'occasion) et la Croatie (12 Rafale d'occasion).

    CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (July 23, 2019) – Collins Aerospace Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), has received its sixth order from the U.S. Army to provide PRC-162 software-defined ground radios for the Handheld, Manpack and Small Form Factor (HMS) program. This sixth order was issued under a multiple award contract that the Army awarded to Rockwell Collins and two other companies in 2016. The contract, which has a $12.7 billion maximum firm-fixed-price with an estimated completion date of March 2026, moves the Army another step closer toward modernizing communications on the battlefield. The PRC-162 is a two-channel ground radio, both man-portable and vehicle-mountable, that will enable the Army to tap into next-generation communications capabilities such as the Department of Defense's new Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) while maintaining interoperability with legacy waveforms.     Industry, government, and academia established consensus in several areas regarding NORAD, Overland and Maritime ISR capabilities. There is room in the present for intermediate technological solutions and for adapting existing equipment for near-term impact. While it has been agreed that the technological solutions required to meet future challenges do exist, it is unclear how to best address the security, organizational, and financial implications that come with proposed technical solutions. There are still many unanswered questions regarding continental defense, however individuals from various backgrounds have come together and can continue doing so to determine a path forward. Looking ahead, this document should serve as a basis of insight and discussion that can be elaborated upon for future force development exchange events. This event successfully helped bridge the gap between industry and DND and illustrated what the RCAF and CFD are doing in preparing for a radically different approach to NORAD and the defence of North America. Establishing academic, government, and industry consensus on several key points has been an important first step, constructive collaboration like this will allow more creative visioning for solutions going forward, hopefully with eventual implementation by DND/CAF. Brainstorming how to overcome security, organizational, and financial constraints on implementing technical solutions will be a key area to explore as this discussion progresses.
