  Damen making Progress with First two Contracts for the Combat Support Ship (CSS)

  March 27, 2020 - Even during the Corona crisis, Damen is committed to remaining operational in order to continue the important projects for the Defence sector. The first two contracts for the Combat Support Ship (CSS) for the Royal Netherlands Navy were signed earlier this week, with a modified working method in accordance with the current guidelines of the Netherlands National Institute for Public Health and Environment. RH Marine, leading system integrator and innovator of bridge systems, electrical and automation systems in the maritime industry, and Heinen & Hopman, worldwide specialist in the field of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems (HVAC + R systems), will immediately start engineering, while the first supplies of equipment for the CSS are expected by mid-2021. The Dutch subcontractors, our partners for all new construction projects for the Royal Netherlands Navy in recent decades, can now work together on more than 200 man-years of Dutch content. Together with Damen as main contractor and many other subcontractors participating, a large part of the Dutch naval shipbuilding sector are cooperating on this new and much needed ship. The delivery of the CSS is scheduled for the second quarter of 2024. A year later, in the second quarter of 2025, the CSS must be operational. BAE Systems Ordnance Systems Inc., Kingsport, Tennessee, was awarded a $74,756,071 modification (P00678) to contract DAAA09-98-E-0006 for Building G-3 NQ/RDX recrystallization construction at Holston Army Ammunition Plant. Work will be performed in Kingsport, Tennessee, with an estimated completion date of Nov. 30, 2021. (Awarded Dec. 27, 2018) Pinnacle Solutions Inc., Huntsville, Alabama, has been awarded a $20,562,123 firm-fixed-price modification (P00040) to previously awarded contract FA8621-16-C-6281 for support of the KC-10 training system. This modification provides for the exercise of the fourth year option and incorporates within scope changes to contractual requirements resulting from a mutual agreement of the parties, and brings the total cumulative face value of the contract to $100,583,419. Work will be performed at Travis Air Force Base, California; Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey; and Fairfield, California. Work is expected to be complete by Dec. 31, 2019.   NAVY United Technologies Corp., East Hartford, Connecticut, is awarded a $325,185,212 cost-plus-incentive-fee, fixed-price-incentive-firm contract to provide material and support equipment for depot maintenance facilities, non-recurring sustainment activities, supplies, services and planning for depot activations as well as two F135 full-scale high fidelity mockup engines and four modules for test cells in support of the F-35 Lightning II Program. Work will be performed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (43.75%); East Hartford, Connecticut (20%); Windsor, Connecticut (3.5%); Cherry Point, North Carolina (3.25%); Fairbanks, Arkansas (3%); Miramar, Florida (2.25%); Indianapolis, Indiana (1.5%); various locations within the continental United States (2.75%) and various locations outside the continental United States (20%), and is expected to be completed in January 2023.
