Second Round Of F-35 Maintenance Work Contracted

LONDON—Industry in Denmark, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, and the UK have secured component repair work for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

Work assignments for the maintenance, repair and overhaul work on some 400 repairable items including avionics, life support systems, landing gear, pumps and power systems for the aircraft was issued by the F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) on Feb. 12. Under current plans, the F-35 enterprise is awarding contracts for more than 770 repairable items on the aircraft.

The first batch of 65 of these contracts was issued in late 2016 for so-called high-value electrical components, fuel, mechanical and hydraulic systems, and ejection seats.

Having secured the lion's share of the first round of contracts, British industry has also grabbed a significant proportion of work in the second, British government officials have confirmed. This will lead to the creation of additional jobs at Sealand Support Services Limited (SSSL), the joint venture established between BAE Systems Northrop Grummanand the Defense Electronics and Components Agency (DECA). It will carry out the component repair work at its facility in Sealand, Wales, to support European operators of the aircraft.

Défense Nouvelle commande pour l'Airbus A330 MRTT 2 DÉFENSE
L'Occar transforme en commande ferme une option sur un Airbus A330 MRTT dans le cadre du contrat MMF qui vise à créer une flotte de ravitailleurs pour plusieurs pays européens. Quatre Airbus A330 MRTT en un mois Après la commande passée par la France pour trois Airbus A330 transformables en MRTT dans le cadre du plan de relance du gouvernement, c'est au tour de l'Occar transformer en achat ferme une des trois options prises dans le cadre du contrat MMF (Multinational MRTT Fleet) qui porte sur huit Airbus A330 MRTT fermes. Initié en 2012 par l'Agence européenne de la Défense, ce contrat est géré par l'Occar pour le compte de la NSPA, l'agence de soutien et d'achats de l'OTAN. L'objectif est de mettre le parc à la disposition de plusieurs pays européens : les Pays-Bas, le Luxembourg, la Norvège, l'Allemagne, la Belgique et la République Tchèque. Le Luxembourg veut plus d'heures Les Etats participant au programme MMF ont un accès exclusif aux ravitailleurs qui sont gérés en pool par l'OTAN. Les coûts et le personnel sont répartis en fonction du nombre d'heures de vol requises par chaque pays. C'est la demande du Luxembourg d'augmenter son quota d'heures de vol qui a d'ailleurs déclenché cette commande qui porte désormais à neuf le nombre d'Airbus A330 MRTT commandés fermes auxquels s'ajoutent deux options. Le Luxembourg veut en effet passer de 200 à 1 200 heures de vol. Des avions multimissions Comme les deux premiers exemplaires livrés, l'appareil sera configuré pour réaliser plusieurs missions : le ravitaillement en vol mais aussi le transport de personnels et de fret ainsi que les opérations d'évacuation médicale. La pandémie de coronavirus ou covid-19 a d'ailleurs été l'occasion pour les A330 MRTT Phénix de l'Armée de l'Air de démontrer ses capacités en matière d'évacuation médicale d'urgence dans le cadre de l'Opération Résilience qui a nécessité l'installation de postes de réanimation lourde pour accompagner le transport des patients. https://air-cosmos.com/article/nouvelle-commande-pour-lairbus-a330-mrtt-23664

IAI ELTA Awarded 125 Million-Dollar Contract for Czech Mobile Air Defence Radar (MADR) Program
December 5, 2019 - ELTA Systems, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), announced that a Government-to-Government (GTG), contract has been signed today in Prague, by the International Defense Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT), at the Israel Ministry of Defense and the Czech Ministry of Defense. The agreement was signed for the Czech Mobile Air Defense Radar (MADR), program and comprises eight ELTA ELM-2084 Multi-Mission Radars (MMR) with air surveillance, air defense, and artillery capabilities. IAI's ELTA will assume the role of prime contractor. The MADR systems will be delivered, tested, licensed and accepted in operational condition during 2021-2023 in the Czech Republic, and will be adapted to operate in accordance with Czech and NATO command and control systems. The Israeli party will transfer state-of-the-art technology and know-how. The program also includes a substantial contribution from Czech industries, amounting to 30% of the contract value. The cooperation with local companies will apply to all parts of the program including design, manufacturing, assembly, integration, testing and life-time maintenance of the systems. Certain security components will be manufactured locally, including advanced Gallium Nitride (GaN) radar modules, as well as auxiliary sub-systems such as trucks and camouflage nets. This agreement is part of the ongoing and excellent cooperation between the two countries on the political, industrial, defense and homeland security levels.
