Le ministère des Armées annonce l'accélération de près de 600 millions d'euros de commandes militaires dans le secteur aéronautique
Pour soutenir le secteur aéronautique, le ministère des Armées va dégager 600 millions d'euros de commandes par anticipation, notamment pour acquérir trois A330 transformés ultérieurement au profit de l'armée de l'Air. Florence Parly a indiqué également que le ministère des Armées va commander huit hélicoptères Caracal, et que plus de 100 millions d'euros seront mis au service de commandes de drones pour la Marine Nationale. «L'ensemble de ces commandes répond à un besoin de nos armées. Nous allons simplement aller plus vite». «Soutenir l'industrie aéronautique, c'est épauler la croissance française tout entière», déclare Florence Parly.

Andrew Eversden WASHINGTON — The U.S. Navy awarded a contract potentially worth $69.8 million over five years for engineering services for its tactical network. In an Oct. 8 contract announcement, the Navy said Philadelphia-based defense contractor McKean Defense Group was award a one-year contract for engineering services for the Navy's Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services, including “technical and programmatic services for networking, communications and computer systems and associated certification and information assurance for new developments, current operations and planned upgrades.” The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract has a one-year base period with four option years. The first year of work is valued at $12,228,590. No funds were obligated at the time of the award. Work will be performed in the continental United States in San Diego, California; Norfolk, Virginia; Hawaii; Washington, D.C.; and Charleston, South Carolina, as well as outside the continental United States in Japan; Guam; Bahrain; and Italy. According to the announcement, fiscal 2021 funds will be designated as task orders. The funding will come from from several areas, including FY21 accounts for Navy operations and maintenance; research, development, test and evaluation; and shipbuilding construction. Other funding may come from the accounts related to Foreign Military Sales; Program Directive Air; and the Navy working capital fund. The contract was competitively awarded with two offers summited. BY DAVID VERGUN Information technology is the backbone of today's modern battlefield and even more important in a constantly evolving security climate. That's why digital modernization is more important than ever. To usher in digital modernization, the DOD chief information officer has launched its first Digital Modernization Strategy, underpinned by four modernization pillars: cloud; artificial intelligence; command, control and communications, known as C3; and cybersecurity. First, DOD Chief Information Officer Dana Deasy said, an enterprise cloud will be created that will enable information sharing across the entire military and most importantly, to the warfighters on the tactical edge. Also, the enterprise cloud will deliver the next generation of applications that the warfighters will need to succeed. Second, for the enterprise cloud to effectively and efficiently enable information sharing on a vast scale, it will be powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning. To develop and deliver AI to the enterprise cloud, DOD needed to create the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center, known as the JAIC, Deasy said. The JAIC "will be used by all the services, which will be the way in which we start to create new AI solutions at scale – that can be used across the department," he added. Third, is the ability to communicate to the warfighter with C3, Deasy said, which is "how do we ensure that we can get the end results from our cloud, from our AI solutions out to the tactical edge, out to the warfighter." Fourth, to prevent the department's technology from being compromised, it must be protected by defensive and offensive cyber capability, he said, noting that the Defense Department must be resilient when dealing with inevitable attacks from adversaries. "The Digital Modernization Strategy is all about the warfighter," Deasy said.
