    (December 3, 2018) Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. company, announced the delivery of the first law enforcement-configuredBell 505 Jet Ranger X to the Sacramento Police Department. “The Bell 505 delivers best-in-class visibility, and the aircraft's advanced avionics and cost of operations make it the choice aircraft for law enforcement operations,” said jay ortiz, SENIOR vice president, the Americas. “bell is proud to support THE SACRAMENTO police department and provide reliable aircraft for the important mission of global law enforcement agencies.” Bell outfitted the Sacramento Police Department's Bell 505 with several law enforcement provisions, including high skid gear and forward/aft hard points for mounting equipment. The aircraft also features additional equipment including a 15” monitor with moving map system, loudhailer, MX-10 EO/IR Sensor and Trakka Beam Searchlight. “The Bell 505 will be invaluable in critical calls for service when minutes matter and will allow us to best protect the citizens of Sacramento,” said Sergeant Randy Van Dusen of the Sacramento Police Department's Air Operations Team. “The ergonomic seats allow the pilot and tactical flight officer to fly for hours comfortably, and the large windows allow for greater visibility that makes searching for suspects and missing persons easier.” With a speed of 125 knots (232 km/h) and useful load of 1,500 pounds (680 kg), the Bell 505 is designed to be safe and easy to fly while providing significant value to the operator.     DÉFENSE Comment l'armée française tisse des liens avec les startups de cybersécurité Face à l'évolution de la conflictualité qui se joue désormais dans le champ cyber aussi bien que dans les milieux traditionnels (Terre, Mer, Air, Espace), l'armée multiplie les initiatives pour travailler avec les sociétés qui peuvent l'aider à riposter aux menaces. La France a ainsi créé le commandement de la cyberdéfense (COMCYBER), placé sous l'autorité directe du chef d'Etat-major des Armées et qui doit assurer la protection des systèmes d'information des armées, ainsi que la conception, la planification et la conduite des opérations militaires dans le cyberespace. Outre la collaboration avec les grands groupes, tels que Thales ou Atos, l'armée cherche également à se rapprocher des startups de la cybersécurité les plus innovantes. En témoigne la création à Rennes de la Cyber Défense Factory, un incubateur piloté par la Direction générale de l'Armement (DGA), ou la création, en 2018, de l'Agence de l'innovation de défense (AID). Enfin, le ministère des Armées a signé une convention avec ACE Capital Partners, filiale de Tikehau Capital, qui est le fonds privé le plus actif dans la cybersécurité en France. This is a five-year base contract with one five‐year option period. This was a competitive acquisition with 36 responses received. Location of performance is Washington, with a July 23, 2024 performance completion date. Using customers are Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and federal civilian agencies. Type of appropriation is fiscal 2019 through 2024 defense working capital funds. The contracting activity is the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (SPE2D1‐19‐D‐0016). Crown Clothing Co., Vineland, New Jersey, has been awarded a maximum $12,386,162 modification (P00009) exercising the first one-year option period of a one-year base contract (SPE1C1-18-D-1079), with four one-year option periods for men's coats and replacement collars. NAVY Data Link Solutions LLC, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is awarded a maximum potential value $62,300,000 modification to a previously awarded indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity multiple award contract (N00039-15-D-0042) for the Block Upgrade II retrofit of Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) low volume terminals. The terminals provide secure, high-capacity, jam-resistant, digital data and voice communications capability for Navy, Air Force and Army platforms. Work will be performed in Wayne, New Jersey (50%); and Cedar Rapids, Iowa (50%). Work is expected to be completed by December 2026. No funding is being obligated on the contract at the time of award. Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems, Manassas, Virginia, is awarded a $27,425,442 for firm-fixed-price delivery order N00024-19-F-5632 under previously awarded contract N00024-15-D-5217 for 165 Technical Insertion Sixteen (TI-16) Common Display System (CDS) Variant A water-cooled production consoles. The CDS is a set of watch station consoles designed to support the implementation of Open Architecture in Navy combat systems. The TI 16 CDS is the next evolution in the CDS family and consists of a three-eyed horizontal display console. This delivery order combines purchases for the Navy (85%); and the government of Japan (15%) under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. Work will be performed in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and is expected to be complete by March 2020. Fiscal 2018 other procurement (Navy); fiscal 2014, 2016 and 2017 shipbuilding and conversion (Navy); and FMS Japan funding in the amount of $26,935,062 will be obligated at time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
