    France: Dassault Aviation renouvelle sa convention avec le ministère des Armées pour le soutien aux PME

Mérignac, le 14 janvier 2019 – M. Eric Trappier, PDG de Dassault Aviation, et Mme Florence Parly, ministre des Armées, ont signé le renouvellement de la convention entre Dassault Aviation et le ministère des Armées pour le soutien aux PME de la Défense. Cet événement a eu lieu dans le cadre de la visite que Mme Parly a effectuée ce jour à l'usine Dassault Aviation de Mérignac. L'adhésion initiale de Dassault Aviation à cette convention était intervenue en janvier 2014. En renouvelant cette convention, Dassault Aviation confirme la démarche qui a toujours été la sienne de soutenir les centaines de PME qui sont ses partenaires dans les programmes militaires. Le tissu industriel français auquel appartient Dassault Aviation s'est patiemment constitué depuis des décennies, accumulant et partageant des connaissances, des méthodes de travail, des règles de métiers, des outils de conception et production qui sont précieux et doivent être absolument préservés. Ces compétences, résultat de la réalisation de toutes les générations d'avions depuis 1945, sont synonymes de souveraineté technologique : très peu de pays les possèdent. Elles sont également synonymes de croissance : par exemple, plus de 150 PME françaises se sont vu proposées des opportunités de développement liées au contrat Rafale en Inde. « En tant qu'architecte industriel et intégrateur de systèmes complexes, Dassault Aviation se sait investi d'une responsabilité particulière, a déclaré Eric Trappier.     A new leader for naval intelligence

    Mark Pomerleau The Navy announced new leaders for its various information warfare entities June 6, including a new officer to lead the service's information warfare efforts. Rear Adm. Jeffrey Trussler has been selected as the Navy's next deputy chief of naval operations for information warfare, N2/N6 and director of naval intelligence, according to a Department of Defense release. Trussler, who will also get his third star, replaces Vice Adm. Matthew Kohler, who retired June 5 Under a new reorganization within the Department of the Navy, this position also serves as the co-deputy chief information officer in conjunction with the Marine Corps deputy commandant for information. Trussler recently served as the director of future plans, N55, in the office of the Chief of Naval Operations. During his tenure, Kohler helped develop new concepts to modernize the Navy for the information environment, including overseeing the creation of the Naval Information Warfighting Development Center. That center trains warfare tactics instructors (WTIs), which is what the Navy describes as its information warfare “top guns.” Rear Adm.     £26.7 million engine support contract for Oxfordshire company

    June 17, 2020 - Oxfordshire-based EP Barrus secured the seven-year contract for the upkeep, update and supply of engines fitted to more than 1,100 craft. The contract covers boats within the current MOD in-service fleet for craft under 25m, including Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs), the Mexeflote landing-raft system powered by the Thrustmaster propulsion unit, workboats, and planned future craft. Defence Minister Jeremy Quin said: Our maritime industry continues to grow from strength to strength. This contract will secure an essential capability for our Armed Forces and support over 40 quality engineering jobs in Bicester plus many more throughout the UK. The contract will support operations in the UK and overseas involving the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army, Ministry of Defence Police, and Cadets. The contract will directly support 40 jobs within Barrus's Engineering Centre, as well as a further 80 jobs across the UK supply chain that will benefit from the contract. In addition, this contract secures EP Barrus's graduate programme in Oxfordshire and the future roles for its young engineering students. James Melia, Project Manager for DE&S Boats Team, said: Boats are an essential capability of the UK Armed Forces and are used for many different operations around the world ensuring that our Navy has the reach it needs to protect our interests around the globe. We are committed to ensuring that engines are effectively managed through every stage of their life cycle and our partnership with EP Barrus will provide critical support to this.
