  BETHESDA, Md., March 26, 2019 – Four Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) teams advance as finalists in the 22nd Applied Ergonomics Conference Ergo Cup® Competition, which showcases innovation aimed at reducing risk of injury in the workplace. Lockheed Martin will be one of over 20 companies discussing their ergonomic innovations in the Ergo Cup Competition. “With more than 100,000 employees developing a broad portfolio of products and solutions for national defense, cyber security, logistics and energy we must modernize our approach to ergonomics, safety and health,” says Lockheed Martin Fellow and Corporate Ergonomist Anthony Banks. “This requires new techniques and tooling. Some examples of this include 3D printed tools for helicopter assembly, performing ergonomic evaluations in a virtual environment, and drastically improving manufacturing applications. By focusing on safety, wellbeing and improved business practices, Lockheed Martin is committed to prioritizing sustainability to innovate for the future.” The Lockheed Martin teams competing include: Virtual Reality to Enhance Ergonomics Integration, THAAD Missile Canister Shock Isolator Compression Tool, Weightless High Torque Motor Application for F-35 Vertical Tails Installation and the CH-53K helicopter harness installation from Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company.   Danish radars on French aircraft carrier

  Aarhus, March 25, 2020 - The French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, which visits Danish waters this week, is equipped with two radar systems provided by Terma. The SCANTER 6000 radar systems are used for surveillance, search and navigation at sea - and in the air to guide helicopters on landing. In recent years, Terma has provided radar systems to a number of vessels in the French Navy through a collaboration with the French defense company Naval Group, which among others has built Charles de Gaulle. The French carrier has a fixed crew of about 2,000 men and weighs about 40,500 tonnes. It is accompanied by several escort ships and will be accompanied by the Danish frigate Niels Juel of the Iver Huitfeldt class during its visit. Through its long-standing partnership with the Danish Navy, Terma has provided radar systems, self-defense systems and command-control systems to all of the Navy's large naval vessels, including the three frigates, which also make use of the same radar type SCANTER 6000 as Charles de Gaulle.   Commerce secretary tightens restrictions on military technology exports

"It is important to consider the ramifications of doing business with countries that have histories of diverting goods purchased from U.S. companies for military applications," Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said in a statement. "Certain entities in China, Russia, and Venezuela have sought to circumvent America's export controls, and undermine American interests in general, and so we will remain vigilant to ensure U.S. technology does not get into the wrong hands," he added. The new controls are aimed at limiting China's military equipment from obtaining semiconductor production equipment, Reuters reported. The Commerce Department directed The Hill to the texts of the changes when asked about that report. The new export controls target technology acquired by the countries deemed national security threats through civilian supply chains. The rule change will expand military end-use requirements for China, Russia and Venezuela and remove license exceptions for civilians in those countries. Commerce proposed a related rule change that would force foreign companies shipping certain American goods to China to first seek approval from the U.S. as well as their home nations. Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), an outspoken China hawk and member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, praised the rule changes announced Monday. “This rule is grounded in two basic truths: Modern war is high tech and China's so-called ‘private sector' is fake," the Nebraska lawmaker said in a statement. "Chairman Xi has erased any daylight between China's businesses and the communist party's military. We didn't win the Cold War by selling cruise missiles to the Soviets, and we're not going to beat China by selling semiconductors to the People's Liberation Army.
