CAE a annoncé aujourd'hui que CAE USA a remporté un contrat auprès du Chef de la formation aéronavale (CNATRA) pour des services d'instructions contractuels (CIS) visant à soutenir le programme de formation au sol de la Marine américaine.
En vertu des dispositions de ce contrat CNATRA CIS de cinq ans, qui a été attribué en tant que contrat de base avec quatre options d'un an, CAE USA fournira des instructeurs pour des formations en classe et sur simulateur à cinq bases aéronavales (NAS) afin de soutenir la formation de base, intermédiaire et avancée des futurs pilotes de la Marine américaine.
« Nous sommes ravis d'avoir été choisis pour participer à ce programme hautement concurrentiel visant à soutenir la formation des pilotes d'avion de la Marine américaine », a déclaré Ray Duquette, président et directeur général de CAE USA. « Au cours des dernières années, nous avons pu démontrer nos capacités quant au programme T-44C de la Marine, en tant que fournisseur de calibre mondial en solutions et en services de formation les plus complets. CAE USA se réjouit d'intensifier son soutien à la formation au pilotage de base et avancée afin d'assurer la réussite des futurs pilotes navals de la Marine américaine.
CAE USA fournira des instructeurs en classe et sur simulateur aux cinq bases d'entraînement suivantes de la Marine américaine :
Le programme CNATRA CIS procure des services de soutien aux instructeurs en classe et sur simulateur, pour la formation aéronautique navale de base, qui doit être suivie par tous les futurs pilotes de la Marine. Le programme CNATRA CIS assure également le soutien à la formation intermédiaire et avancée en entraînement d'attaque, qui est la voie à suivre pour les futurs pilotes de chasseurs ou pilotes « Tailhook »; le programme soutient en outre l'entraînement NFO, soit la formation de base pour maîtriser les systèmes de pilotage avancés à bord d'aéronefs navals. CAE USA soutient déjà le programme de formation intermédiaire et avancée relative aux appareils multimoteurs dans le cadre du programme de formation détenu et exploité par l'entreprise T-44C « Command Aircraft Crew » à la base d'entraînement de Corpus Christi. La formation des pilotes navals des aéronefs à voilure tournante est appuyée dans le cadre d'un programme de soutien distinct.

By: Joe Gould WASHINGTON ― A bipartisan group of lawmakers is urging the Pentagon to more quickly stop buying F-35 fighter jet components from Turkey. Sens. James Lankford, R-Okla.; Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H.; Thom Tillis, R-N.C.; and Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., complained in a letter to Defense Secretary Mark Esper on July 6 that the Pentagon's plans to buy parts from Turkey into 2022 undercuts U.S. pressure on the country over its purchase of the Russian S-400 Triumf air defense system. The U.S. formally removed Turkey from the multinational program in 2019 over the S-400 deal, and it ended training on the jet for Turkish pilots. Furthermore, the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act barred the transfer of F-35 aircraft to Turkey. The U.S. has warned that Turkey's use of the S-400 could compromise the stealthy F-35. But Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment Ellen Lord told reporters in January that it would allow prime contractor Lockheed Martin and engine-maker Pratt & Whitney to honor existing contractual obligations with Turkish manufacturers for F-35 components. That means Lockheed would receive Turkish parts through the end of Lot 14, with those planes set to be delivered to customers in 2022. Turkish manufacturers were involved in building more than 900 parts for the F-35, and Pentagon officials said in November that it had found replacement suppliers for nearly all of them. Moving production from Turkey to the U.S. was projected to cost more than $500 million in nonrecurring engineering costs. The lawmakers pointed to Turkey's authoritarian drift under Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and to human rights violations in Syria and Iraq. Though it wasn't mentioned in the letter, CNN broke news last month that Erdogan had pressed U.S. President Donald Trump in frequent phone calls for policy concessions and other favors, worrying Trump's national security advisers. The lawmakers argued to Esper that continuing to buy parts violates the 2020 NDAA and its “clear diplomatic message to Turkey about the consequences of moving forward with Russian defense systems and technology.” “Based on recent revelations, it is clear that the Pentagon is not following its own timeline or the intent of Congress in this matter,” the letter read. “We encourage you to reexamine the present approach and take action to ensure an expedited removal of Turkey from the manufacturing line as required by law.” Valerie Insinna contributed to this report. https://www.defensenews.com/congress/2020/07/07/stop-buying-turkeys-f-35-parts-already-lawmakers-tell-dod/

By: Jen Judson WASHINGTON — Oshkosh Defense has won a $346 million award to modernize the U.S. Army's fleet of heavy tactical vehicles, according to a March 30 company statement. The company will recapitalize Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTT) and Palletized Load System (PLS) trucks with updated technology and safety features. Under the contract, Oshkosh will also build new PLS trailers. Upgrading heavy tactical trucks aligns with the service's need to support operations across multiple domains against near-peer adversaries. “Whether they're hauling rocket launchers and missile defense systems, or transporting mission-critical equipment, the HEMTT and the PLS will continue to be an integral part of the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve heavy vehicle fleets for years to come,” said Pat Williams, the company's vice president and general manager of U.S. Army and Marine Corps programs. “As the military pivots its focus to near-peer adversaries, they can be confident that the [family of heavy tactical vehicles] fleet will continue to serve as a key enabler for combat missions.” Oshkosh has already recapitalized more than 13,700 HEMTTs and 3,400 PLS for the U.S. military since 1995. The company supplies tactical vehicles across the services, including heavy, medium and light. Oshkosh has long held lucrative contracts to supply the services and foreign partners with medium tactical vehicles; it had won a contract to provide a new variant of the vehicle but has yet to begin delivering to the Army. Navistar Defense recently sued the Army over its continued purchase of Oshkosh's family of tactical vehicles without competition, but the U.S. Court of Federal Claims ruled in favor of the service and Oshkosh. Oshkosh also provides the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle to the Army, Marine Corps and Air Force. The vehicle reached full operational capability last year after overcoming some design issues.
