Army Network Cross Functional Team Technical Industry Forum

The U.S. Army Network-Cross Functional Team, with Program Executive Office C3T, will host a tactical network related forum to discuss needs for distributed computing (mission command) solutions, including the potential to deliver Cloud services to tactical formations. This Technical Industry Forum will take place from August 1-2, 2018 in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Marriott Raleigh City Center. All persons who wish to attend this forum must register no later than 5:00p.m. (EST) July 20, 2018. Registration is available at this link: https://armytacticalcloudindustryday.eventbrite.com The goal of the event is to assist industry partners and interested government organizations in identifying and aligning their efforts with Army tactical network modernization priorities. This event is meant for a technical audience to include Cloud service providers, systems and software engineers, architecture experts, data analytical experts and integrators. The Army encourages non-defense IT companies to participate in this two day forum, as these companies may have innovative solutions to enable: data analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, block chain, multi-level security, identity and access management and storage and delivery across Army tactical formations operating in a disconnected, intermitted and limited bandwidth (DIL) environment. The first day will provide an introduction to Army hierarchy and decision making structures in order to enable technical audience members to understand the physical and network environments in which the Army operates. Technical panels will then discuss Army network implementation, management, and constraints in four distributed computing (mission command) related areas: 1. Data Logistics; 2. Infrastructure; 3. Enterprise Service Architecture; 4. Mission Partner Environment. The second day will offer an opportunity for conversation and technical exchange between audience members and Army network technical experts and user community representatives. This day will reseat panel members who will be prepared for conversation exchange on each topic area addressed on day one. This will enable vendors, in an open session, to ask questions for clarification, operational understanding (uniformed operators will be present) and technical understanding. Each topical session will have a moderated panel and will field questions from attendees regarding that topic. At the end of the event, for those interested, the Army will host a ‘doing business with the Army' session for those vendors who would like to understand how to respond to Army solicitations, work with Small Business Offices and explore types of Army contracts that might be employed to seek capability. This session is optional. This information is intended to help scope follow-on white papers and demonstrations resulting from this technical forum. Problem Statement: The U.S. Army seeks to leverage Cloud capabilities within the tactical ecosystem. This tactical compute Cloud will be constrained by a variety of factors that fall into the following categories: Data Logistics, Infrastructure, Enterprise Service Architecture, and Mission Partner Environment. Each of these areas is affected by the operational environment including contested and congested environments, low bandwidth, spectrum denied, and many other factors that preclude traditional cloud solutions. The US Army is seeking capability ideas in the above categories that will meet the needs of the operating force. https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&mode=form&tab=core&id=8296773e7ef109ba354c9b36882cc6a2

    Advanced Materials for Defense Summit

Our Advanced Materials for Defense Summit will detail DoD initiatives to facilitate and implement technology-based options for advanced materials and manufacturing processes. The program will discuss the utilization of strategic materials and manufacturing processes and how they significantly alter the cost, sustainability, and readiness capabilities of DoD logistics operations. Topics to be Covered at the 2018 Summit Advancing innovative materials research for critical defense needs Providing support to global logistics operations through enhanced manufacturing capabilities Developing high performance structural materials for Warfighting capabilities Developing materials and manufacturing sciences to ensure the development of affordable advanced materials Integrating high reward strategic materials that provide higher levels of combat power Ensuring material readiness and maintenance for major weapons systems Guiding 3D printing processes to accelerate Army manufacturing processes Integrating strategic materials onto soldier clothing and equipment to defeat and reduce threats of fragmentation and heat Assessing the impact of foreign investments into acquisition materials in the US Managing the utilization of Rare Earth Elements across the DoD Why You Should Attend this Year's Summit: Our Advanced Materials for Defense Summit will serve as an educational forum for personnel from DoD, Military Services, Federal Agencies, and Industry to discuss the efforts to facilitate and implement technology-based options for advanced materials and manufacturing processes. The utilization of these strategic materials and engineering processes will help to drive down manufacturing costs and improve sustainability and readiness capabilities for the Warfighter. Strategic materials and manufacturing processes are helping to advance current and future DoD logistics operations. Developing intuitive technologies to assist these operations is essential. With additional funding being designated to develop these advanced processes, there has come a greater push to ensure life cycle management for all major weapons systems and service platforms across the Military. Critical materials and manufacturing processes maintenance is vital to the maintaining and developing of US defensive capabilities. To maximize the end products and enhanced capabilities these strategic materials and engineering processes have to offer, increased research and understanding of their knowledge gaps must occur. This will in turn provide the U.S. Military with greater operational flexibility and assist in the overall readiness capabilities of the Warfighter going forward. Join us for this year's Advanced Materials for Defense Summit to discuss the DoD's plan to address the opportunities and challenges it will face, in trying to enhance the defensive industrial base with advanced materials and manufacturing processes. At our Summit you will have the ability to Gain Education & Insight: Walk away with knowledge gained from our senior level speakers on some of the complex challenges facing our advanced materials community. Build Partnerships: The agenda is designed to allow for ample networking opportunities and the ability to engage in constructive dialogue among all in attendance. Influence: Help foster ideas!
